Texans fall in midweek contest at #12 TCU

FORT WORTH – Texans jump out to an early lead but ultimately fall in the midweek contest at #12 TCU 10-2.

Texans get ahead early and fast in their second matchup against TCU as they score one in the first and take a 2-0 lead by the 3rd inning.

A hit-by-pitch to begin the game for the Texans Bryan Aguilar got on first before Tyler Fowler singled through the right side and both advanced on a sacrifice groundout from Kemuel Thomas-Rivera. TCU made their first pitching change of the day before Blake Burns came up to bat and singled to centerfield scoring Aguilar from third.

Both the Texans and Horned frogs went scoreless in the 2nd before Tarleton plated another run in the top of the 3rd. On a fly out to centerfield, Fowler came home after he had a leadoff single and was moved to third on a bunt and sacrifice groundout.

TCU was able to tie it up scoring two in the bottom of the 3rd. They took the lead in the 4th and extended it to 10-2 in the next four innings keeping the Texans scoreless for the remainder of the game.

Fowler led the team offensively tonight going 2-for-3 at the plate with two walks and scoring a run. London Green also had two hits tonight while recording one RBI and Burns went 1-for-3 recording the other RBI on the night.

The Texans and Horned Frogs each had seven pitchers take the mound tonight.

The Texans are back in action this weekend as they take on WAC opponent Utah Valley on the road for a four-game series. First pitch for the series is slated for 7 p.m. Friday, April 16.
