OREM – Utah Valley pushed the Texans to extra innings tonight for the fourth time this year, but the Texans who never trailed in the game come up with the 4-3 victory after 10 at UCCU Ballpark.

The Texans have proved to be the team to beat this year when they can jump out early and they did that again tonight. Recording a run in the top of the 1st the Texans held the lead for the entire game tonight.

Blake Burns led the team tonight going 2-for-4 with a game leading two RBI. Three other Texans matched burns’ two hits, London Green, Spencer Bloom and Dean Frew, with Green recording the only double of the night. Colby Seltzer recorded the only stolen base tonight.

To plate the first run tonight Burns singled to right center bringing in Tyler Fowler from second after he had singled earlier in the inning. Tarleton maintained the 1-0 until the 7th inning when they added another run on an error that allowed Seltzer to score and a sacrifice fly that brought in a Wolverine to bring the score to 2-1.

The Texans plated their third run in the 8th on another single from Burns that brought in his second RBI of the night. After retiring the next three Texans the Wolverines were able to get two runs across on back-to-back singles to tie the game up at three.

Both teams went scoreless in the 9th forcing this game to extra innings. In the Texans fourth extra inning game of the season, they bring a run across in the top of the 10th after the Wolverines load the bases on walks and walk in the winning run. The Texans retired the Wolverines to close out the game and take game one.

Alex Pindeo was on his game tonight going 7.0 innings only allowing three base runners in the first six innings and going three perfect innings with no one on base. He recorded six strikeouts tonight with only four hits and one run. Zach Poe relieved Pinedo tonight going 0.2 innings. AJ Wood came into close tonight going 2.1 innings taking the win while striking out 2 Wolverines allowing no runs and just two hits.

The Texans are taking on the Wolverines again tomorrow for a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. CT.
