Evelyn Marie Baker earned her heavenly wings after her battle with cancer on May 22, 2021.

Evelyn was born on January 19, 1945 in Amarillo, Texas to Durwood and Lavelle (Johnson) Baker. At age one week they moved to Comanche, Texas where she was raised. She completed high school in Comanche and went on to LVN school, after graduation she went to work for Stephenville Medical and Surgical Clinic (SMSC) where she worked for 52 years. During most of her time at SMSC she worked for Doctor Frank Terrell in ophthalmology as an LVN. Evelyn was a devout member of Stephenville First Baptist Church, as well as the Texas League on Vocational Nurses, and Office Nurses Association.

Evelyn is survived by companion Harold Ditmore, daughter Lisa Alderfer and husband Rick Alderfer of Stephenville, her two grandsons Tyler Alderfer of Stephenville, Travis Alderfer, and wife Jessica Alderfer of Stephenville along with their children: Jadie and Rylee, with a third daughter, Kenzie, on the way, her brother Travis Baker of Comanche and sister Eva Sue Johnson of Comanche, nephew Albert Baker and nieces Tina Bigham, Cyndi Bertrang, and Rhonda Payne, and a host of other family members.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her father, Durwood Baker, mother, Lavelle Baker, brother, Gerald Baker, and nephew, Paul Walter Baker.

In lieu of flowers, Evelyn asks that you give to the charity of your choice.


Service Information

Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, at the Stephenville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, in the Stephenville Funeral Chapel.
