William L. Koenig, age 96, went to be his wife, Nadine, on Sunday, June 20, 2021.

He was born on March 5, 1925, in Genoa, Texas, to William and Annie (Brahm) Koenig. He grew up during the Depression and helped his father with their gas station. At the age of eighteen he was drafted into the Army and served for three years during World War II. William was in the liberating force in the Philippines and received a Good Conduct Medal and Army of Occupation Medal, two Bronze Stars, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, Asiatic and Pacific Campaign, and Infantry Combat Badge. He served our country and came home to tell the tales.

After his service in the Army he got a job with Harris County working on heavy equipment, a job he held for thirty-seven years. On August 9, 1958, he married Nadine Busch in Pasadena, Texas. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2019, and they had a daughter, Sandra. He was a wonderful husband, and father and worked hard to support his home and family. William was a brilliant man, and his boss once called him a wizard. He could fix anything and if he could not find a part he would make it. He created concrete benches for the yard and made things with clear cast. He loved hunting and square dancing and his favorite hobby became collecting movies. He was kind to everyone he met and those who knew him, loved him and considered it a privilege to call him friend.

He is survived by his daughter Sandra and son-in-law Chuck; family friends, Trey and Frank; brother; in-laws, and nieces and nephews.
