It’s all going down, Saturday, July 3, in the Stephenville City Park. Kicking the morning off in style will be the All American Parade through downtown Stephenville at 9 a.m. and ending with the famous SPARD Fantastic Fireworks show at 10 p.m.

The parade will begin in the Stephenville City Park at 9 a.m. and wind its way through downtown to Tarleton State. There will be a the Downtown Merchants’ Farmers Market on the Plaza from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and our friends over at Spashville will be open from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. so the kiddos can cool off from the heat of the day.

This year the Stephenville Elks Lodge and SPARD have teamed up for two events – the car show and bbq cook-off. The cook-off will include categories like chicken, ribs, beans and brisket and awards announced at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

In addition to the cook-off, the Elks Lodge and SPARD are also working together to sponsor a Classic Car Show in the Stephenville City Park on Saturday. The car show is open to the public from 12 noon until 3 p.m. with awards announced at 3:15 p.m.

After checking out the cars (or before), be sure to stop by the lawn mower races. Registration begins at 1 p.m. in the park and racing will begin at 3 p.m. Organizers said the races will continue until a winner is crowned.

There will be several other events in the park throughout the afternoon, including a petting zoo, face painting, mini golf, train rides, food trucks and the final concert in the TexStar Ford Summer Nights Concert Series.

This is an annual event in and of itself, and something you definitely don’t want to miss. The Tejas Brothers and Larry Joe Taylor will take the stage at the Birdsong Amphitheater in the Stephenville City Park at 7 p.m. and will entertain the crowd as they gather for the big finale.

The Stephenville Parks and Recreation Department’s Fantastic Fireworks will close out the day-long event, beginning at approximately 10 p.m.

While the city and their partners are so excited to welcome everyone to the park for this wonderful event, they also ask that folks plan ahead and use caution when parking to come to the park all day, but especially to watch the fireworks. Be sure you are parking in an approved parking area and not on private property without the owner’s permission or blocking a driveway or roadway.

Also, please use caution when exiting your parking spot following the event. There will be others trying to get to their vehicles and leave, too. Some of them will be families. Please be patient and watch carefully.

So, grab your family and friends and come on out to the Stephenville City Park for a full day of Fourth of July fun on Saturday.
