Verller Jane Brants, born January 8, 1930 in Hamilton, Texas to parents Henry and Naomi (Brown) Hoffman, passed away in Hico, Texas on August 12, 2021 at age 91. Verller, better known as “Janie”, graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth where she played basketball, then she later attended TCU where she studied design. Janie worked several places throughout her career, from owning her own business, to working for Radio Shack as well as for 18 years with Macy’s. She served as a former President of the Children’s Museum in Fort Worth from 1968 to 1969. Janie was a member of the Ridglea Country Club Ladies Golf Association and the Woman’s Club in Fort Worth. She served on the activities board for the Hico Senior Center and drove transport for IHOP in Hamilton County.
Janie loved to travel, cook, decorate and enjoyed music. She was an avid golfer up into her 70’s, was a master bridge player who teamed up with her sister, Sharon, and Janie also enjoyed playing dominos.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred M. Brants, Sr., and grandson Jeffery Dunnam, Jr.

Surviving Janie are her three children Fred Brants, Jr. and wife Julie, Elaine Brants Brown, and Janice Brants Murrell and husband Tom. Also surviving are her grandchildren Zachary Brants, Chris Dunnam and wife Courtney, Michael Dunnam and wife Ashley, Matthew Dunnam and wife Sarah, Caren E. Brown, Lauran E. Huerta and husband Alex, and Shannon Murrell Butler and husband Josh. Surviving great-grandchildren include Charlotte and C.J. Dunnam, Lucas and Luna Dunnam, Matthew James, Javal Coleman and wife Lizzy, Nathan James, Louis and Rosa Huerta, and Gunner, Abigail, and Robyn Butler. One great-great-grandchild survives: Theodora Coleman.

Services at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Harvest Hills Funeral Home in Hico, Texas with Elwood Hoherz officiating. Burial to follow at Bethel Cemetery in Hamilton, Texas.
