July 24, 1928– August 18, 2021

Frances Taylor Nix, 93, of Stephenville went to meet her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, in Stephenville.

 Funeral services for Frances will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 21st at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Buddy Payne officiating, assisted by Eric Hargrove and Jim Kirby.  Burial will follow at Erath Gardens of Memory.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM (one hour prior to services) at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Frances was born on July 24, 1928, in Stephenville, to the late Forrest Neal and Ima Inez Green Taylor.  She married Doyle Nix on June 26, 1948 in Stephenville.  Doyle preceded her in death on December 13, 2002.  Frances grew up in Stephenville and worked for Doyle White Motor Company, while completing her two year degree from Tarleton State College. Upon marrying Doyle, the love of her life, she worked alongside him, owning and operating Nix Hardware and Manufacturing, for over 70 years.  Frances volunteered with the PTA when her boys, David and Alan, were in school and also served as their boy scout leader.  Doyle and Frances were avid supporters of all Stephenville civic and school organizations.  She volunteered at Hook Elementary as a mentor in their reading programs.  Frances devoted many years of her life to teaching Bible classes and working with children in the church.  She was fondly know as the ‘Memory Verse Lady’.   Frances was a member of the West Side Church of Christ and a lifelong resident of Erath County.

Frances is survived by her sons, Alan and wife Jan Nix of Stephenville, and David and wife Alisha Nix of Arkansas; grandchildren, Christi and husband John Bloomer, Traci and husband Sam James, and Amy and husband Bart Garner; great grandchildren, Skylar and Cash Garner, Britton and Briley James, and Haley Bloomer; brother, Jim N. and wife Olivia Taylor of Harlingen; and nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, and husband, Doyle; Frances was also preceded in death by a grandson, Harold D. Nix; and sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Clinton Smith.
