Stephenville ISD is making some serious moves in their soccer program with the addition of Savion Washington to the already strong Head Coach Justin Rhodes.

Washington, who is no stranger to The Flash and Stephenville residents with his numerous events and work with area students through his many endeavors, is an exciting choice for Stephenville Athletics.

“I’m very excited to have Coach Rhodes and Coach Washington to lead our Jackets and Honeybees soccer programs,” said SISD AD Jarod Womack. “I feel very good about Coach Rhodes leading our programs. He brings great experience and years of fundamentals he’s gained from previous teams he’s coached. And, in addition to Coach Washington’s experience, he is bringing his relationship with the community and the valuable resources of energy and enthusiasm to our Bees and Jackets both on and off the field.”

I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity. I absolutely love the Stephenville Community, the people in it, and especially the next generation. I am thankful for Stephenville ISD for believing that I am a fit for the historic soccer programs. I can’t wait to hit the ground running with Coach Rhodes and keep the tradition going. Without God and my wife, Lindsey, this would have never happened. Go Bees & Go Jackets!”

Savion Washington

Stephenville HS Soccer Assistant Coach

Washington was born in Jonesboro, Louisiana, but he and his family moved to Garland when he was seven. He graduated from North Garland High School in 2011 and from Tarleton State with a degree in Kinesiology (Fitness Management) in December 2015. Washington received his Masters Degree in Kinesiology (Athletic Administration) in May 2018.

He married Lindsey Mann on June 16, 2018. She currently serves as Director of Basketball Operations for the Tarleton Texans’ women’s basketball team. After receiving his masters in 2018, Savion spent nearly a year back in Garland where he started up his business, SDUB Fitness. He moved the business back to Stephenville and has helped more than 500 kids in Erath County work towards their athletic and fitness goals.

And if you’re wondering what SDUB stands for, “S is for Savion and DUB is for the W that his last name begins with.  He also said SDUB can be broken down as follows: Sacrifice, Desire, Unstoppable, and Benefit,” he said.
