Royce Lee Mackey, age 89, went home to be with our Lord, September 16, 2021, in Hico. Visitation 6-8pm, Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Harvest Hills Funeral Home. Funeral Services, 2:00pm, Monday, September 2021 at Harvest Hills Funeral Home with burial at Hico Cemetery.
Royce was born May 5, 1932, in Erath County, Texas, the third of three children to Henry Franklin and Evie Jane Shaw Mackey. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jo Carpenter, June 1, 1951 and they moved to Fort Worth then eventually to Everman to raise their family. He retired from the Fort Worth Police Department after 28 years. Royce and Jo returned to Hico to continue enjoying their retirement. Royce served as an Elder at the Hico Church of Christ, he enjoyed playing computer games and working in the yard. He will be missed by his loving family and friends.
Survivors include three sons, Gary and wife Peggy, and Steve and wife Susan all of Everman, and Roger Mackey of Hico; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous grandnieces and nephews.
Royce was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister and one brother.
