The Cowboy Capital of the World welcomes back their rodeo family as the annual PRCA rodeo returns to Stephenville this weekend.

The weekend long list of events will decide who will be packing up for the National Finals Rodeo later this year, according to Ben Clements, head of the Cowboy Capital Rodeo committee.

“[This rodeo] is no different than the last two minutes of a football game,” Clements explains. “You’ve played all the way through there and then it comes down to actually what happens at the very last rodeo to find out if your whole season has been made or broke.”

The event acts as a homecoming for many local professional cowboys and cowgirls who reside in the Erath County area after spending the bulk of the rodeo season on the road. Winners of each event will receive a trophy, a custom belt buckle and a trophy rifle.

The first night of the rodeo will kick off on Friday night and end Sunday afternoon.

“Get ready for an awesome rodeo experience,” said Clements.

Tickets can be bought at local stops around town including Bradberry’s Best, Capital, Hatters, Chick Elms Rodeo Shop & Grand Entry Western Wear, Saddle Rags The Western Store and Stephenville Chamber of Commerce. Adult tickets are $12 in advance, and $15 at the rodeo grounds.
