Stephenville grad killed in crash in Oklahoma

STILLWATER, OKLA. — A Stephenville HS grad is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Wednesday. 

According to reports from police in Stillwater, the crash, which occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m.at the intersection of 32nd Avenue and Washington Street, was caused when a white Ford F-350 was driving northbound on Washington Street when it crashed into a gray Ford F-150 that was traveling westbound on 32nd Avenue. 

The police report stated the crash caused one of the vehicles to catch fire. When first responders arrived on scene, they found the F-150 fully engulfed in flames. The occupants of the F-150 were pulled from the flames by witnesses. However, one of the five occupants of the Ford F-350, did not make it. 

Lariat Larner, 24, of Stillwater, formerly of Stephenville, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Three other people involved in the crash were taken to an area hospital. And the cause of the crash is under investigation at this time.

Larner, who graduated from Stephenville High School in 2016 and had previously been a member of the Tarleton State rodeo team, was currently an assistant coach for the rodeo team at Oklahoma State University. 

“The OSU Rodeo Team and I are devastated by the loss of Lariat Larner, our assistant coach, fellow team member and friend. Lariat was an excellent competitor, but first and foremost a cherished member of our rodeo family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Larner family and everyone who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed.”

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, October 17, at the Cowboy Church of Erath County and her funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 18, at the Cowboy Church of Erath County.

  1. I’m So Sorry to hear this Sad News. My thoughts and Prayers are with the Family. Praying for Comfort and Healing. Its Always Sad to lose a young Beautiful Woman before her time.
