The Stephenville Yellow Jackets (7-0, 2-0) shut out the Alvarado Indians (2-5, 1-1) 56-0 on Friday night at Tarleton’s Memorial Stadium for the annual Heart of Gold game. This means the Jackets are still undefeated for the season, giving them first in district. Texas Football ranks the Jackets second in the state in 4A behind Austin LBJ who is also undefeated this season. Stephenville will travel to Waxahachie Life to face the Mustangs Friday, October 22, at 7:30 p.m.

The Dublin Lions (6-1, 2-0) took on the Jacksboro Tigers (3-3, 1-1) Friday evening and came away with a nail biting win, 21-20, and remain undefeated in district play. The Lions defense was able to shut out the Tigers in the fourth quarter allowing the Lion offense to come down the field and score the winning touchdown. While the Tigers equally spread their total yards (348) evenly, throwing for 175 yards and rushing for 173, the Lions, got 263 of their 358 total yards in the air and only 96 on the ground. The Lions, who are first in District 5, 3A-2, will travel to Merkel on Friday with kick off at 7 p.m.

The Hico Tigers (4-4, 1-1) traveled to Albany to take on the Lions who are the only team so far to give Dublin a loss. The Lions (7-0, 2-0) are undefeated so far this season and sit at the top of District 8, 2A-2. Hico, who is third in district play, were defeated in Albany, 53-0. The Lion defense was formidable, holding the Tigers to only 37 passing yards and 24 rushing. The Tigers did not throw and interception, but did lose a fumble during play. Hico will face the undefeated Santo Wildcats (7-0, 1-0) at 7 p.m. on Friday at Tiger Field in Hico.
De Leon High School’s Bearcats continued a tough 0-7 season last week with a shut out by the Cisco Lobos (6-1, 2-0). Without a district win so far, the Bearcats are sitting in sixth place, but the ‘Cats are looking to change all that as they host the San Saba Armadillos (1-6, 1-1) at 7 p.m. in De Leon Friday night.
The Lingleville Cardinals (5-1, 1-0) are on a five-game win streak and coming off a big upset win over the Gorman Panthers (4-3, 0-2) last week. The Cards were able to beat the Panthers 60-58 in a close game that came down to the last few seconds. Lingleville now sits in third place in District 13, 1A-1, behind undefeated May and Baird who is undefeated in district play. The Cardinals will host the Santa Anna Mountaineers (6-2, 0-2) whose only loses have come in district play. Kickoff is in Lingleville Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

The Bluff Dale Bobcats (4-3, 0-2) faced a tough Gordon Longhorn team (6-1, 1-0) Friday night at home and were shut out 54-0 at the half. The Bobcats are now taking the bye week to recover and strategize as they look for their first win of district play when they face the other Erath County team in District 11, 1A-2, Three Way (3-5, 0-2).
The Three Way Braves (3-5, 0-2) hosted the undefeated Strawn Greyhounds (8-0, 3-0) on Friday night at Brave Field and managed to score a touchdown before the Greyhounds, who are ranked second in the state in 1A-2, ended the game at halftime with a 54-7 finish. The Braves are headed to Gordon on Friday to face the Longhorns (6-1, 1-0). The Longhorns and the Greyhounds are both undefeated in district play while Three Way is looking for their first win of district.
Stephenville FAITH (2-6, 1-3) traveled to Bryan Friday evening to play BVCHEA HomeSchool (5-3, 1-1). The FAITH Knights completed only three passes for 50 yards but sophomore Travis Roberston rushed for 506 yards on 29 carries. The Mustangs overpowered the Knights in the end, 69-29. The Knights are looking to bounce back this week with a trip to Dallas on Friday to do battle against the Chargers of CHANT HomeSchool (4-4, 0-3) at 7:30 p.m.
