Obituary for Rose Ann Jackson

Rose Ann (Parker) Jackson, born January 17, 1955, to parents William and Rose (Barnett) Parker, passed away December 25, 2021, in Glen Rose, Texas. Rose Ann married the love of her life Dwayne Eldon Jackson on December 31, 1976. She has been a member of the Chalk Mountain community for over 50 years. Rose Ann loved teaching and educating, being a Nana and her Yorkie dogs. She graduated from Tarleton State University with her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1976 and her MeD in Elementary Education in 1981 “She took every math class that Tarleton offered”, She was one of the best educators for 44 years. She taught at Walnut Springs ISD for 30 years and was a Mathematics professor at Tarleton State University for 14 years. Students all called her Mrs. J. Rose Ann was awarded Coca – Cola Teacher of the Year – 2002,Tarleton State University Teaching Excellence Award. 2010 Tarleton State University Tim Flynn Math Outstanding Faculty Award 2013 Tarleton State University Crystal Apple Society Award 2015 Tarleton State University OA Grant Excellence in Teaching Award 2019 She is the author of numerous presentations and papers regarding mathematic education. Her granddaughter, Jaelynn, was her whole world.

Preceded in Death by her parents, William Royce Parker and Rose (Barnett) Parker.

Rose Ann is survived by her husband Dwayne Eldon Jackson, sons Jared Jackson, Jeff Jackson and wife Lauren, Granddaughter, Jaelynn Jackson. Rose Ann is also survived by all the students she had over 44 years of teaching. Every student she taught, she thought of as if they were family.

  1. She was an awesome lady and had a heart of gold for her students !!! She taught me so much @Tarleton. She has gained her Angel wings and will never be forgotten!!

  2. Mrs. Jackson was a great and inspiring math teacher when I was at Tarleton. She made the content related and shared bits of herself in each lesson. She was such a kind soup. I’m so sorry to her family for the loss.
