Charlene Margaret West Holt, died Monday, January 3, 2022 in Stephenville.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Carlton Baptist Church in Carlton, Texas.

Charlene was born on October 18, 1924, on the West Family Farm in Keller, Texas.  She graduated from Carter-Riverside High School in Fort Worth, spent 2 years at NTAC, not UTA, and received a BA degree from the University of Texas in Austin.  She also attended summer school at the University of Mexico in Mexico City, and did graduate work at UT Austin.  In 1948 she married Allen Knox Holt, and his job took them to Mexico for 13 years, and to Brownsville Texas for seven years.  They returned to Fort Worth, and built a home on the West Family Farm, where their two sons grew up.  She was a member of Pan-American Round Table II of Fort Worth, and a life member of the UT students.

Charlene is survived by her son, Joel Robert Holt and his wife Gay Lynn; her grandsons, Garrett West Holt and his wife Kerri, Brock Wyatt Holt and his wife Lakyn; her granddaughter, Shelby Holt Grace and her husband Brandon; six great grandchildren, Brye and Brynn Holt, Griffin and Rippkin Holt, and Noah and Walker Grace; sister-in-law, Rosemary West and niece, Carol West Wheeler and her family.

Charlene was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Allen K. Holt; her parents, Bob and Margaret West; her brother, Robert West; son, Allen Know Holt, Jr.; and an infant daughter.

Charlene loved her family, the fam where she was born that was in the family for 60 years, the schools she attended, the natural world, going to Ghost Ranch in New Mexico, traveling in the USA, reading and taking walks.
