Norman Chandler, age 88, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Comanche County Medical Center, Comanche County, Texas.

Norman was born on September 6, 1933, in Comanche, Texas to Earl Quentin and Grace (Day) Chandler. On September 3, 1954, he was united in marriage to Doris Nell Kerley in Comanche, Texas. Norman has been a farmer all his life. There were many hours spent on the tractor plowing, thrashing peanuts, hauling hay for taking care of his cattle, be it a hot day or a bitter cold one. He also worked the US Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for 36 years. After retiring from the Postal Service he continued to farm and enjoyed playing his musical instruments with family and friends. He was a self taught musician who learned how to play various guitars by ear. There were many nights of picking and grinnin’ in the Chandler’s garage. Norman and Doris were half owners of the Cross Timbers Country Opry for many years. He played the steel guitar in Tolar, TX and made many life-long friends.
He was a life-time member of Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Chandler; one brother Garland “Butch” Chandler; two daughters, Kayla Latham, Lanette and husband Ricky Morrison; four grandchildren; Kyndal Latham, Kyle Latham, Alex Morrison and Aaron Morrison; Numerous Nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Grace Chandler, two brothers; Dwight Chandler and Gayland “Snip” Chandler.

Family and friends will gather at Comanche Funeral Home, on Monday January 24, 2022, from 5 – 7 pm. Funeral services will be at 2pm Tuesday, January 25, 2022 in the Chapel with Cris Bloyd officiating. Burial will be at Pendergrass Cemetery.
