COLUMBIA, Mo. – For the second game in a row, Tarleton had the go-ahead run on base against a Power Five opponent in the ninth inning but came up short.

The Texans (3-6) came into the top of the ninth inning down 6-3 to Missouri (7-1). A Mizzou throwing error, hit batter and a walk loaded the bases for the Texans with one out. The Tigers made a pitching change, and Dylan Kurahashi-Choy Foo came to the plate and knocked a double down the third base line to score two and make it a one-run ballgame.

The next at-bat Kemuel Thomas-Rivera reached on a fielder’s choice, but the Tigers caught Alec Williams attempting to reach home to tie the game up for the second out. The next Texan to the plate grounded out to the shortstop to make it final.

Missouri starter Spencer Miles earned the win after pitching 5.0 innings, allowing no runs, striking out five. Tarleton starter Bryce Hackett suffered the loss to move his record to 0-3 on the season. He pitched 4.2 innings allowing five runs on seven hits. Two hit batters, two walks and a wild pitch all contributed to Mizzou filling the basepaths and taking the early lead.

Tarleton did not score until the seventh inning. Spencer Bloom and Bryan Aguilar hit solo home runs back-to-back over the left field wall to give the Texans their first two runs to make it 5-2.

Mizzou got one run back in the bottom half of the seventh off a Cam Careswell double to left center field. Tarleton earned it right back in the top of the eighth with Choy Foo blasting a home run to left field to lead the inning off. He finished the game with two hits and three RBI.

Tarleton reliever Zach Poe entered in the seventh inning with the bases loaded and proceeded to get the next two outs to get Tarleton out of the inning. He came back for the eighth and struck two Tigers out and induced a grounder to himself for a putout.

Colby Seltzer finished with two hits, his third multi-hit game of the season.

The game was the first of the season that Tarleton did not record any errors.
