December 4, 1943 ~ March 17, 2022 (age 78)

Jerry Wayne Jones, 78, of Stephenville went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 17, 2022.

Funeral services for Jerry will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 29th at Cowboy Church of Erath County with Werth Mayes officiating.  Burial will follow at West End Cemetery.  Visitation with the Jones family will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, March 28th, at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Jerry was born on December 4, 1943 in Pampa, Texas to the late Hugh Wallace and Maxine Newberry Jones.  He married Patricia Copeland on October 12 1985, in Navasota, Texas.  Jerry grew up in West Texas, and graduated from Eula High School in Eula, Texas, and attended Tarleton State University.  Jerry spent over 20 years as a service writer at Bruner Motor Company.  He and Patricia attended Cowboy Church of Erath County, where Jerry served for five years as an Associate Pastor.  Jerry loved his family, and was known as a ‘Grower of Good People’.   He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed anything outdoors.  He had a passion for share Jesus with everyone he came in contact with.  As he travelled with Patricia, one would often find him leading church with fellow campers along their journeys. Jerry taught his family how to love like Jesus, to work hard, and to appreciate the simple things in life.  His future generations will carry on his heart of being the hands and feet of Jesus each and every day.  Jerry never missed an opportunity to share “Love you, guys” or “God Bless you”.  His love language is orneriness, but Jerry always had a way of loving hard and big in so many ways.

This world will be a much better place with Jerry Wayne Jones in their hearts.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Monty and his wife Kimberly Jones of Clyde, Gary and his wife Sonia Leverett of Burleson, and Todd and his wife Melissa Leverett of Fort Worth; daughters, Kimberly and husband Kirk Hughes of Tuscola, and Laurey Green of Stephenville; sister, Patty and her husband Dewayne McCasland of Goldthwaite; grandchildren, Brennen and his wife Meredith Brown, Braden and his wife Cali Brown, Jakeb Jones, Judson Jones, Tryston and his wife Ilhwa Leverett, Chance Leverett, J. T. Leverett, Caden Green, Ethan Green, Dylan Hughes, and Cameron Hughes; great grandchildren, Bray , Callen, and Tripp Brown. He is also survived by two special lap buddies, Tucker and Ziggy. 

Besides his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tom Green.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Erath County Cowboy Church. Donations will be used to help send children to summer church camp.
