They started their married life living in Granbury then moved to college Station while Gene finished school at Texas A&M. In 1964, they moved back to Granbury where they lived until moving to Stephenville in April of 1972.

Margie was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and even made all the curtains for their home.

Margie took an active interest in her community, and was involved with 4-H club, as well as a member of the PTA, band booster club, and the Pecan Queen Coronation and bake show.

Margie and Gene were active members of several churches, including First Baptist Church of Bryan, Granbury and Stephenville. In their later years, she and Gene were members of Harvey Baptist Church in Stephenville.

She was a secretary for numerous businesses, as well as a licensed in-home childcare provider for several years. In 1978, she began working as an educational secretary at First Baptist Church, Stephenville, until her retirement in 1993. The next several years, she and Gene doted on their three grandchildren.

Like her mom, Margie had a green thumb, and enjoyed growing plants and flowers in their backyard. Margie and Gene were faithful friends who often took meals to families who had lost loved ones.

Margie is survived by her son, James Michael O’Neal, of Stephenville; daughter, Melissa and husband Phil Mabry, of Stephenville; grandchildren, Andrew Mabry and wife, Tanner, of Granbury, Ashley Mabry and fiancé, Jake Evans, of Stephenville, and Amy Mabry, of Stephenville; great grandchildren, Laykin, Heston, and Brekyn Mabry of Granbury; and also numerous nieces and nephews.
