AUSTIN – Tarleton trotted out four 400m hurdlers on Thursday at Mike A. Myers Stadium to begin the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

When the smoke from the starter pistol dissipated and results went final, the names of all four athletes were firmly entrenched among the top-10 of the Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Performance List.

Kyndal Gladson and Ashlynn Cash each notched lifetime personal records in the women’s race in the University/College Division to begin Tarleton’s weekend in Austin.

Gladson, a heptathlete, clocked in at 1:05.74 to place 29th overall in her first time competing collegiately in the event. The sophomore’s time is Tarleton’s second-fastest in the event this season and ranks eighth in the WAC and 21st in the NCAA South Central Region.

Cash was not far behind, as the junior shaved a half-second off her lifetime personal record to claim 32nd place in 1:06.22. The performance continued Cash’s steady progression. She has now notched personal records in two straight meets and ranks 10th among her conference peers in the event.

The Texans’ podium potential for the WAC Outdoor Championships (May 12-14) was then evidenced in the men’s race.

Brady Sisneroz placed third in his heat and 28th overall in 56.05 seconds while Joey Ortiz-Martinez crossed the finish line 33rd behind a season personal record of 56.61 seconds.

Sisneroz’s season and lifetime personal record (54.89 seconds) ranks third in the WAC, 12th in the NCAA South Central Region and 60th on the NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifying List.

Ortiz-Martinez cut nearly a full second off his previous season best and now occupies the No. 6 spot on the WAC Outdoor Performance List. The senior owns a lifetime personal record of 54.66 seconds and finished seventh at the 2021 WAC Outdoor Championships.

Tarleton will be represented by 15 athletes in seven events on Friday.

The Texans’ women’s 4x100m relay team of Nyla Barlow, Breonna Campbell, Summer Croxton and Hanna Dudley get the day started at 9:35 a.m. Alan Palmer will then compete in the long jump at 10 a.m. The senior is the lone athlete competing in a field event for Tarleton. The 100m hurdles and 110m hurdles follow the 4x100m relays. Khloe Turnbull is entered for Tarleton in the 100m hurdles while Konnor Hoerman and Sullivan Sanders will race in the 110m hurdles. Justin Raines is then set to compete in the open 100m. The action wraps up with the 4x400m relays. Barlow and Dudley will be joined by Jordan Anglin and Alessa King. The Texans’ men’s 4x400m relay team is comprised of Brandon McKissick, Bailey Smotek, Reid Vincent and Zachary Martinez.
