STEPHENVILLE — Tarleton State University’s Educator Preparation Program (EPP) has been awarded a commendation from the Texas Education Agency for recruiting, preparing and supporting the certification of teachers in content-short areas.

Tarleton was honored for its work in preparing students seeking Bilingual/English as a Second Language (ESL) and Career and Technical Education certifications.

“A lot of hard work goes into training teachers, not just on the part of the students, but on the part of their instructors,” said Dr. Josh Jones, Director of Educator Preparation Services at Tarleton. “It is very satisfying to see that we’re not just recognized at a local level for the training of our teachers, but statewide as well.”

Tarleton was one of 11 EPPs in the state to receive a commendation, and one of three to earn commendations in multiple areas.
