STEPHENVILLE – The excitement of Senior Day resonated into the Tarleton bats as they jumped all over Lamar in the early innings to win the series against the Cardinals 8-1 Saturday afternoon.

Eight of the nine starting Texans recorded a base hit in the game with five of them boasting multi-hit performances. Morgan Medford led the way with three hits in the leadoff spot while Amanda DeSario, Austin Germain, Makayla Romeo, and Hallie Saintignan had two hit performances.

Georgia Capell, Tristyn Trull and Alexis Hoang had one hit each for Tarleton. Seven different Texans scored a run in the game, including each of the first six in the order.

The hero in the circle for Lamar last night, Aaliyah Ruiz, didn’t have the same magic in her third start of the weekend. Tarleton opened up with three singles, a walk, and a two-RBI double from Austin Germain to take a quick 3-0 lead and chase Ruiz from the game without recording an out.

Three more runs came in the first inning off the new arm, highlighted with an RBI double from Makayla Romeo, to give the Texans a 6-0 lead after one. Tarleton loaded the bases with no outs in the second and Alexis Hoang drove in two with a two-run base hit back up the middle to extend the lead to 8-0 after two innings.

Lamar managed only a single run off Tristan Bridges, who was masterful in pursuit of her 11th win this season. The eight runs of support is all Bridges needed as she twirled a complete game, allowing just four hits and one run while striking out five.

It was the final home WAC series of the season for Tarleton, who honored their three seniors – Hallie Saintignan, Julia Wernet, and Georgia Capell – in a postgame ceremony. The Texans will play two more home games next Saturday at noon against Houston Baptist.
