Milton Don Jones, 80, of Stephenville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 1, 2022.

Visitation with the Jones family will be Saturday May 14th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Stephenville Funeral Home.  Following the visitation at the funeral home the Jones family invites family and friends to a Celebration of Life for Don beginning at 6:30 PM at City Hall at City Limits at 1907 E. Washington in Stephenville.  A Final Tribute for Don will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Graham Street Church of Christ.  Interment will immediately follow at Erath Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Don was born on October 26, 1941, in Stephenville to the late Garland and Edna Savage Jones.  He attended public school in Stephenville, graduating from Stephenville High School in 1960.  Don attended Tarleton State, and Texas Tech.  On July 20, 1962, in San Antonio, Don married the love of his life and wife of almost 60 years, Patricia Ann Wright.

He coached for 37 years in many different communities in Texas and also coached at Tarleton State. He served as an elder and was currently serving as a deacon at the Graham St. Church of Christ where he was very involved in the Wednesday Night Meals, Community Christmas Dinner, and Night of Casseroles programs there. He was also active in the Texan Club, was a member of Leadership Stephenville and mentored many athletes and young people over the years.

Don is survived by his wife, Patty; sons, Le and his wife Tammy Jones of Stephenville, and Troy and his wife Pam of Stephenville; grandchildren, Tylan and his wife Nikki Jones of Levelland, Leissa Jones of Stephenville, Kelcee and her husband Andy Heflin of La Marque, Easton Jones of Stephenville, and Dylan Jones of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a great grandchild, Mason Sophia Jones; brother, Gary and his wife Angie Jones of San Francisco, sisters, LaNell and her husband Dan Hartman of Fredericksburg, and Janette Jones of San Antonio; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his parents, Don was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Earl Jones.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the M. Don Jones Memorial Football Scholarship at Tarleton State University by contacting Michael Gilstorf at 304-212-8613 or mgilstorf@tarleton.edu. Memorials may also be made in his name to a Mobility Clinic set up by his granddaughter, Kelcee Heflin, which serves the the unhoused community of Galveston Island. Service Information

Visitation will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, at the Stephenville Funeral Home. a Celebration of Life will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, at City Hall at City Limits in Stephenville. Final tributes will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, at the Graham Street Church of Christ with burial to follow in the Erath County Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
