Ellis Donald Weathermon passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, to rejoin his loving wife, Wanda, who he has deeply missed for 28 months. He was born August 13, 1937, to Ellis McClain Weathermon and Gracie Alice (Bennie) Weathermon in Brownwood, Texas. He graduated in 1957 from Brownwood High School and went to work for Southwestern Telephone Co. On a blind date, he met Wanda June Stephens and they married on August 2, 1959. Ellis was in the National Guard for 14 years, while working for Southwestern Telephone Co. He transferred from Brownwood to Coleman, and then to Junction. In 1970, he transferred to Comanche, where it later changed to General Telephone (GTE), then Verizon. He retired after 32 years.

Ellis and Wanda did a little traveling along with working in his upholstery shop. He was always involved in his children’s activities at school and after school. Ellis was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Comanche.

He is survived by his three sons, Cecil Weathermon and wife, Donna, of Comanche, Tx, James Weathermon and wife, Sonya, of Stephenville, Tx, and Tommy Weathermon and wife, Ginger, of Brock, Tx; one daughter, Becky Hicks and husband, Ricky, of Comanche, Tx; seven grandchildren, Miranda Hicks of Comanche, Tx, Jeremy Hicks of Brownwood, Tx, Laramey Weathermon and wife, Cortney, of Stepenville, Tx, Elizabeth DeForest and husband, Cliff, of Comanche, Tx, Aron Weathermon of Abilene, Tx, Kearstyn Weathermon of Brock, Tx; and Aiden Weathermon of Brock, Tx; four great-grandchildren, Brett Millwee, Kaylor Millwee, Gabe DeForest, Tripp Weathermon, and two more due in September; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wanda June (Stephens) Weathermon; parents, Ellis McClain and Gracie Alice (Bennie) Weathermon; four sisters, Vetress Barefoot, Ganelle Stewart, Lucille Chew, and Earldean Huckaby.

Service Information

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, May 13, at the Comanche Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche County.
