NORMAN, Okla. – Tarleton State saw success throughout the meet just north of the state line. The meet was highlighted by Sage Barmettler’s record breaking Pole Vault success.
The Texans’ first meet of the new year saw multiple student-athletes etch their name in school history.
“I’m very happy how both teams competed today,” said interim head coach Chase Rathke. “First meets after Christmas break are always tough, but these athletes competed their tails off and I’m super proud of them. We did a lot of good things we can build on and there are also some things that we need to work on. We have a competitive meet next weekend at New Mexico that I am looking forward to and I know these athletes are as well.”
Women
Barmettler claimed first place in the indoor women’s pole vault with a school record 3.75 meters (12′ 3.75″). Barmettler previously held the record with a mark of 3.73 (2023).
Barmettler wasn’t the only one who saw success on the women’s field events side of things. Sofia DeGroot earned the top spot in the indoor women’s triple jump at the Crimson Storm Invitational. DeGroot jumped 12.10 meters (39′ 8″) earning her the 2nd all-time spot in school history in the event.
On the track side of things, the Purple and White saw multiple student-athletes come away with school history.
The Texans had two student-athletes earn and keep themselves in the school’s top-10 for indoor women’s 60 meter hurdles. Taylor McFarland won the event with a time of 8.92 seconds keeping her in the No. 2 spot in school history. Hannah Cade trailed not far behind with a time of 9.03 earning her the No. 5 spot in school history.
Sticking to the short distance events, Hanna Dudley came away with gold in the indoor women’s 60 meter dash. Dudley finished with a time of 7.55 and already holds the school record after running a 7.48 in 2023.
Men
On the men’s side of things, the Texans saw five student-athletes have great success in Norman.
The Purple and White saw two Texans earn spots in the top-10 in the men’s indoor long jump.
