Boyd D. Collier passed away on May 30, 2024. He was born on January 16, 1938, in Waco, Texas to Denis Collier and Annie (Berry) Collier. Upon graduating high school, Boyd served in the United States Navy for four years, doing his duty to our country and we thank him for that. He then went on to continue his education with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree both from Waco then receiving his PhD from the University of Texas in Austin. He married the love of his life, Barbara Joseph, on June 20, 1966. In 1983 he and his family moved to Stephenville. He was a professor at Tarleton State University for 30 years. He was also a professor at Austin for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, their children; Deidra C. Newman and Chris B. Collier, grandchildren; Laurel Newman and John Newman as well as one brother, Curtis Collier, and one sister, Sue Dagely. He is also survived by Dan and Mary Gardner and their family of Rosanky, Judy Beaman and her family of Austin, and Jim and Cheryl Keithly of Austin.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 2 PM at Stephenville Funeral Home, a burial will follow at West End Cemetery in Stephenville, Texas. A visitation will be on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 6 PM-8 PM at Stephenville Funeral Home
