Arthur Gilbert Jr., age 83, went home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday July 2, ,2024 at his home in Mount Pleasant, Tx.

He went by many names, but rarely Arthur! He was known by most as Gil, but also proudly wore the titles of: “Jr”, “Uncle”, “Papa”, “Chicken Papa” and “Dad”

Gil was born on July 23, 1940, in Williamsport, Ohio to Arthur and Ethelyn Gilbert.

Gil met the love of his life, Cecilia, and spent 42 blessed years with her. Together they had two children, Stephen and Kimberly.

Gil was an extremely hard-working man. He proudly served 8 years in the United States Air Force, he was a peanut farmer, rancher, UPS man, dozer operator, shade tree mechanic and a jack of all trades. There wasn’t much he couldn’t fix and he took pride in all he did. He was a proud member of the Congregational Methodist Church in Dublin for most of his life, where he led the singing, and his wife Cecilia played the piano.

After the passing of his wife, Gil met and married his current wife, and best friend, Elyse Gilbert in 2004. They had 19 wonderful years together.  They were inseparable and enjoyed their life together.

Gil is leaving behind a legacy of loving family members. He survived by his daughter, partner in crime, and sidekick Kimberly Hanes and her husband, Carey, of Mount Pleasant, Tx.

His pride and joy were his grandbabies that called him “Papa”-Kt and Brandon Wilbur, Cole Wright, Kaleb and Jamie Wright, Keith and Kassidy Wright, Josh and Samantha Hanes, Bryen and Holly Healey, Laura Gilbert, and Felicite Gilbert.

He also had a few bonus grands- Hollyann and Pete Ramirez, Jessica and Johnathon Monk and Ryan and Kendra Wright.

He is also survived by his sisters- Glenda and David Smith, and Pansy and Sam Skaggs. His Sister-in-law Julia and Steve Peek and Brother-in-law Scott Kunishige He also had lots of nieces and nephews and many, many friends!!!

Gil loved fishing, being outdoors, messing with his chickens, his cows and mowing, and let’s not forget how much he loved scratching lotto tickets. But above all else he loved Jesus and his family. He stood on what he believed, and it never changed! He looked forward to his time with his family, especially his grandkids. His time with his nephew Steve Hicks meant the world to him.

We will never forget how much Gil loved us with all he had. He was never afraid to show us. He is leaving us with a lifetime of memories to cherish and enough love to carry us through anything!!
