October 18, 2024
The annual Lone Star Fireworks Festival will be held in Chalk Mountain this weekend to benefit the Fosters’ Home for Children in Stephenville. Festivities will be held both Friday and Saturday. With Friday’s events starting at 7 p.m. and Saturday, the gate will open at 4 p.m. The Stasey Ranch is located at 4137 County Rd 196 Bluff Dale, TX 76433.
The Flash spoke with Event Coordinator, Beth Stasey, and asked what inspired such an awesome fundraiser.
“We attended an event similar to ours for many years and we wanted to bring something like this to Texas,” she said. “There are a lot of pyros out there who want to use their talents to show off other than the standard shows. We pitched the idea to some of our pyro friends and they told us ‘Whatever you need, we will help you make this happen!'”
And then, to choose such a wonderful organization to benefit, Stasey said, “The Fosters Home has a long-standing reputation in Stephenville as making a lasting difference in the lives of children and families. My husband and I were not able to have children of our own and this gives us a chance to invest in children. Ultimately, we wanted an event to benefit the Fosters Home, but also have them come out and be a part of it! We love having them out there!”
Friday night, October 18, admission will be free to the public and the show will be a bonus event called Blind Pyro where competitors will be given an assortment of fireworks and a set amount of time to create a pyromusical. Then all four team will shoot their shows and the audience will vote for a winner. There will be $1 hot dogs. It’s a much smaller version of Saturday’s events.
“For me, I like the choreography with the shows. It takes a lot of time and talent to make it look great. It really adds an element to the show that you don’t see at your average fireworks show,” Stasey said when asked what her favorite part of the festival is each year. “Of course, seeing the spectators enjoy the event really makes it great!”
On Saturday, October 19, the gates will open at 4 p.m. and there will be tickets required. They can be purchased here (https://www.lonestarfireworksfestival.com/tickets).
There will be food trucks from all your Stephenville favorites including The Shack, Mi Covina, Black Betty, Speedy Spudz, The Bad Donkey and so much more. Live entertainment will also kick off around this time with Baileigh Rhodes on stage from 5 until 5:45 p.m. and The Winding Rhodes Band taking the stage at 6.
Fireworks will start around 7:15 p.m. But be sure to get there early so you can get a good spot to watch the action. The parking lots fill up fast and folks will want to be settled when the shows start. There will be shows by Helm-Sizzboom Fireworks, North Texas Pyrotechnics, Sky Elements Drone Shows, Sublime Pyrotechnics and many others.
The event is outdoors and the Staseys recommend bringing a chair or blanket to sit on. And because it might be cooler, probably a jacket, too. Visitors are permitted to bring their own snacks and coolers. No grills or glass bottles are allowed and no pets.
Tickets are $40 per carload at the gate, so plan ahead and bring the whole crew. Buy your ticket ahead and take it with you to save time and money. Early purchased tickets only cost $35.
