Monty Scott Huffman, 71, of Lingleville, died Saturday, July 5, 2025, in Arlington. Graveside services for Monty will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 11, at Lingleville East End Cemetery.
Monty was born on June 16, 1954, in Lubbock to the late Fred Huffman, Jr., and Wilma Foster Huffman. He received his bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Texas at Arlington. Monty married his wife of 45 years, Stanette Hill, on December 1, 1979, in Grand Prairie, TX. He and Stanette spent many years living in Euless, TX, raising their two sons while Monty worked in the construction equipment business. Monty loved Friday night lights, spending over 30 years as a Texas High School Football Official. A man of strong conservative values, he loved the outdoors, raising cattle, watching wildlife, and admiring the beauty of nature. He loved collecting guns, cracking jokes, and watching documentaries and timeless classics, such as the Andy Griffith Show, the Twilight Zone, and It’s a Wonderful Life. Twelve years ago, Monty and Stanette moved back to the family farm in Lingleville. He then retired after ten years working as an appraiser for the Erath County Central Appraisal District.
Monty is survived by his wife, Stanette and dog, Pearl; son, Scott and wife, Jessica Huffman and granddaughter, Harlo, to whom he was affectionately known as Opa; son Sam Huffman; and, sister-in-law, Melissa Linton, brother-in-law, Ronnie Linton, and niece, Chelsie Linton.
In addition to his parents, Monty was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Stanley and Nadine Hill; sister-in-law, LaDawn Dewberry; and, brother-in-law, Barry Hill.
