STEPHENVILLE — Paying tribute to its visionary founder, Tarleton State University has announced the reestablishment of the John Tarleton Society to provide personalized, sustained gratitude to the institution’s most generous donors. Originally established in 1992, the previous version of the society held a similar mission to the relaunch.

This comprehensive stewardship initiative will represent a community of stakeholders recognized for their life-changing impact though philanthropic giving. Each member of the John Tarleton Society will have donated more than $25,000 in their lifetime to Tarleton State.

The society will feature elements similar to those found in the Texan Excellence Fund, Tarleton State’s recently launched annual giving program, such as membership levels and benefits that ascend in significance according to lifetime giving totals.

A key aspect of the John Tarleton Society will be to provide a defined framework to ensure that those responsible for advancing institutional excellence are honored and distinguished in an appropriate way.

“The John Tarleton Society is another example of our commitment to commemorating those who continue to invest in our student-centered mission,” said Tarleton State President Dr. James Hurley. “It exemplifies the importance of their leadership and provides a platform to express our gratitude and appreciation in consistent and impactful ways. It also celebrates our visionary founder and the legacy of life-changing impact he established over 125 years ago.”
