STEPHENVILLE — Week of Welcome (WOW Week) will kick off the start of another exciting school year at Tarleton State University, featuring dozens of campus events for students to take part in Aug. 20-27. Each activity is designed to welcome students to campus, build community and help Tarleton State Texans make lasting memories.
“WOW Week is electric,” said Lathes Towns, Executive Director of Campus Life and Family Engagement as a part of the Division of Student Engagement and Success. “It is a time full of contagious energy, purple pride and endless connections!”
From information tents and photo opportunities to concerts and cookouts, WOW Week offers something for everyone. The festivities begin on the first day of classes with information tents stationed across campus to provide snacks and guidance. The fun continues throughout the week with events such as The Big Feed, Meet the Greeks, Battle of the DJs, a movie night under the stars, Sundaes on Sunday, a Worldwide Welcome, multiple involvement fairs and an on-campus farmers market.
The first Purple Thursday of the school year is especially exciting, as it marks the long-awaited ribbon cutting of the EECU Center set to be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 21. Following this ribbon cutting, guests can check out the new state-of-the-art facilities and take a Taste of Texas Tour.
External campuses will also have events throughout the first few weeks such as first day of school pictures, a come-and-go board game day, a movie matinee and Purple on the Patio.
