Verna Ardele Gibson of Dublin, Texas went home to be with her loving Savior on September 19, 2025, at her residence in Dublin, TX. Verna was born on August 29, 1944, in Spokane, WA, to Shirley and Virgil Bailey. Verna was strong in her faith and cherished her church family at the Highland Missionary Baptist Church in Dublin, TX. Known for her great sense of humor and her love for her residents, Verna touched the lives of many in her passionate work as a nursing home administrator. After a debilitating stroke in 2009, Verna’s persistence, courage, and faith in the LORD kept her strong until He called her home. She could make people laugh with her silliness and jokes right up until her last days.

Verna is preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Cochinella and Virgil C.Bailey, her son, Joseph Roger Gibson, brothers Virgil (Mike) Bailey, Tom Bailey, and Donald Bailey and her sister Jean Bailey.

Verna is survived by her children: Charles Gibson of Mineral Wells, TX, Daniel Gibson and wife Angelee of Dublin, TX, and Timothy Gibson and wife Melissa of Navarre, FL; her grandchildren: Joseph Gibson and wife Dystanie of Breckenridge, TX, Ryan Gibson and wife Audrey of Dublin, TX, Brady Gibson and wife Kaitlynn of Hico, TX, Brett Gibson of Dublin, TX, Elly Gibson of Dublin, TX, Mikayle Gibson of Mary Esther, FL and Maliya Gibson of Lakeland, FL; her great-grandchildren: Adeline and Jocelyn Gibson of Breckenridge, TX and John, Matthew, and Harlan Gibson of Dublin, TX. She also leaves behind her sister, Ida Bailey of Delaware, OH, and brother, William Cochinella and wife Wendy of Arlington, WA, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.

The family would like to thank the true angels of Wings Over Texas Hospice for their great and loving care of Verna. 

Services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the Highland Missionary Baptist Church in Dublin, TX beginning at 10:30 am with burial at Hessel Valley Lutheran Cemetery in Sugar Grove, PA on September 29, 2025.
