STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton State Women’s Basketball’s Jakoriah Long was named to the Preseason All-Western Athletic Conference team, the conference announced Wednesday.

Long, a 2024-25 All-WAC honoree, is the second Texan in program history to be named to a WAC Preseason All-Conference team. The senior guard is the first Texan to earn the preseason honor since Alexa Hoy in 2020-21.

Leading Tarleton State in scoring in WAC games with 13.3 points per game, Long helped the Texans to a second-place conference finish last year. She averaged 10.3 points per game (349) points and 4.4 rebounds per game (150 rebounds), dishing out 48 assists to go with 38 steals in 2024-25. Long scored at least 20 points in four different WAC games, including a season-high 26 points with seven 3-pointers in the Texans’ final regular season game at Wisdom Gym on March 6.

Long is the first Texan in the Division I era to post two consecutive 25-point games. She became the first Texan since the 2013-14 season to post back-to-back games with at least 25 points (Kiara Wright, Feb. 5-8, 2014) and was the first Texan in the Division I era to have back-to-back games with six or more 3-pointers. Long is also the first player since the 2011-12 season to have two consecutive games with six or more 3-pointers (Peyton Adamson, Jan. 11-14, 2012).

In her first season at Tarleton State in 2023-24, Long led the Texans in scoring with 348 points, averaging 11.2 points per game. The Waco, Texas, native finished in the top 20 in the WAC in scoring and had 18 games with 10+ points. She led the Texans with 20 points to lift Tarleton State to its first WAC Tournament victory in program history.

Prior to arriving in Stephenville, Long earned NJCAA honorable mention honors at Blinn College. She was a two-time NJCAA national tournament guard that led her team in scoring in the national tournament at 14.0 points per game.
