Six Years Running, Texas’ Top Graduate Success Rate Belongs to Tarleton State

STEPHENVILLE — For the sixth straight year, data from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) confirms that in the state of Texas, Tarleton State has the highest percentage of graduates that land a job or enroll in graduate school within a year.

“This accomplishment reflects the determination of our students and the unwavering commitment of our faculty and staff,” said Tarleton State President Dr. James Hurley. “A Tarleton State degree is more than a diploma; it’s a launching point to a successful and meaningful future.”

The 2024 THECB Almanac reports that 84% of Tarleton State graduates achieve career placement or graduate school enrollment within 12 months of graduation.

“Tarleton State has become a destination for students seeking real opportunity and long-term success. Its momentum is strengthening the workforce and helping shape the future of Texas,” said Texas A&M System Chancellor Glenn Hegar.

Tarleton State’s No. 1 ranking highlights the university’s momentum as it continues advancing Tarleton State Forward 2030: Our Future-Focused Strategic Plan, expanding academic programs, increasing research capacity and strengthening partnerships with industry and community organizations across the nation.

“This milestone speaks to the strength of our academic programs and the hard work happening across every college and department,” said Interim Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Barry Lambert. “For the sixth year, Tarleton State leads the state in graduate success because our faculty and staff stay focused on what matters most, which is preparing Texans who are ready to contribute on day one. We are proud of this achievement, and we will keep building on it.”

The THECB’s annual almanac examines key performance indicators across Texas public higher education, including student success, affordability, access and post-graduation outcomes. Tarleton State has risen steadily in statewide workforce readiness, surpassing all other universities in long-term, consistent graduate success.
