Donna Jean Carson Pruitt

Donna Jean Carson Pruitt was born on September 5, 1941, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Roberta Hillery and Hoyce “Pop” Homer Carson. She went home to be with the Lord on December 8, 2025, joining her beloved husband Richard Earl Pruitt, her parents, her brother Don Carson, her sister Edwyna “Aga” Meadows, and other cherished loved ones.
Donna is survived by her devoted son, Ronald (Ronnie) Earl Pruitt, and his wife, Sonica; stepson Richard Pruitt Jr.; grandchildren Laney Chiles Pruitt, Richard Grason Pruitt, and Brayden Hensley Pruitt; nieces Connie Blanco, Martha Brown, Jo Nell Johnson, Vicki Hughes, and Maxie McFadin; nephews Joe Bob Meadows and Don David Carson; cousin Bob Hillery; and many extended family members and friends.
A graduate of Polytechnic High School in 1959, Donna attended Texas Wesleyan University. She met Richard Pruitt in 1963, and they were married on August 19, 1965. The couple cherished their family life, and on May 25, 1971, Donna welcomed her son Ronnie, who brought her immeasurable joy. She was a steadfast supporter of his endeavors and a loving presence in his life.
Donna dedicated 44 years of her life to Harris Hospital in Fort Worth, serving as chief of the histology department. Following her retirement, she continued to work alongside her family in office management at Pruitt Building Services, carrying forward her husband’s legacy.
A woman of deep faith, Donna was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Fort Worth and Harvey Baptist Church in Stephenville, where she nurtured lasting friendships and served faithfully. She enjoyed fellowship, regular gatherings with friends, and traveling, especially the memorable trips through Europe she shared with her sister Edwyna.
A celebration of Donna’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Greenwood Funeral Home in Fort Worth, with visitation on Monday, December 15, from 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Donna’s memory to an organization supporting research toward a cure for Dementia.
