The Faces of Christmas was performed at Cottonwood Church in Dublin on Sunday, December 21. The 10th anniversary performances brought two near-capacity crowds to hear and see the story of the very first Christmas in music, song and dance.

This original theatrical production, written by Scott Hooper and directed by Wayne Trimble, tells the story of Christmas from the perspective of many of the characters from the biblical Christmas narrative. “Each character has a unique part of this history-changing event, and each brings a unique message,” says Wayne Trimble, “which potentially makes this, for our audiences, not just a history-changing event, but a personally life-changing event.”

The Faces of Christmas featured appearances from the Angel Gabriel, shepherds, the innkeepers, Anna, the magi, King Herod, and, of course, Mary and Joseph. “My personal favorite scene is how we tell the story of Joseph’s Dream through dance. It is a powerful interpretation of the story where Joseph’s doubt becomes life-changing faith.”

Dance is typically a big part of the Faces of Christmas, and this year was no different, which featured several members from Zion Dance Project. The show ended with a beautiful performance of “We Bow Low,” sung by Marilyn Miller, in conjunction with the magi’s humbling encounter with the Christ child.

The cast featured Mike Maglott as Gabriel, Victoria Trimble as Mary, Miles Oldengarm as Joseph, Tiffany Hooper as the Holy Spirit, Corbin Wilson and Travis Trimble as the shepherds, Cooper, Quinn, and Noah Nelson as child shepherds, Scott Hooper and Sarah Ground as the innkeepers, Wayne Trimble as King Herod, and Bob Gwassa as the magi.

The characters were brought to life by an amazing backstage crew of makeup artists, including Hollywood veteran Sue Mayer and Rosalie Solis, and costumers Tiffany Hooper and Rebecca Trimble.

“It takes an army,” Wayne said, “and I am so grateful to all the people who came together to help bring this story to life. It is truly ‘the greatest story ever told,’ and it has been an honor and a privilege to share this story with the people of Erath County and surrounding communities throughout the years. It is my desire that the message of the Christmas story will inspire faith, hope and life-change in our communities and beyond.”
