Marly Lopes Chavez, born June 26, 1937, in Rio Grands do Sul, Brazil to parents, Joao and Vovo Frida Lopes, passed away in Hico, Texas on March 15, 2026, at age 88 with her children at her side.
Marly was preceded in death by her parents Joao and Vovo Frida Lopes, her loving husband Raul “Popi” Chavez, with whom she shared many cherished years.
Marly is survived by her loving children, Susan Kerr and Marco Chavez, who will continue to carry forward her memory and values she instilled in them. She also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Cody Kerr, Kelsey Putty, Dezra Chaves, Mykle Chaves and Eric Chavez all of whom brought Marly great Joy and pride. Marly is also survived by one beloved great-grandchild, Marlee Putty, who was a special blessing in her life. Marly is survived by her brother, Rony Lopes, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members who remember her with deep affection.
