FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Victoria Cameron earned the Texans second top three finish and third First Team All-American honor in the final day of the 2026 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field National Championships to lead both the men’s and women’s team to their best finishes in program history on Saturday afternoon at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
Tarleton State ended its second appearance in program history at the D1 Indoor Championships with its highest team finishes in both the men and the women team competitions. The women tied for 23rd overall among the entire NCAA field. The women scored 10 points, the most by a WAC school at the indoor championships since SMU in 2003. The women’s squad placed third among non-Power Four programs. On the men’s side, the team scored 10 points to tie for 30th. The ten points is the most by a WAC program since Idaho in 2008. The Texan men tied for fourth among non-Power Four programs, the highest among the past two seasons.
On the final day, Cameron added to the Texans’ hardware collection with the first top three national finish on the women’s side in program history. Cameron placed third by four thousandths of a second behind second place. The sophomore clocked in at 7.15 seconds, just 0.07 seconds behind national champion, Florida State’s, Shanese Walker. Walker finished in 7.08 a time that Cameron ran earlier this season and holds the 10th best time in NCAA history.
“Finishing 23rd on the women’s side and 30th on the men’s side at the NCAA Indoor Championships, both the best finishes in program history says a lot about the heart of this team,” said head coach Bobby Carter. “I couldn’t be more proud of the way our athletes competed on the biggest stage. At the same time, this group isn’t satisfied. We’re excited about what we accomplished, but there’s a real hunger in this program for much more. We’ll take this momentum and come back even stronger when the outdoor season starts.”
Cameron earned her first First Team All-American honor in her collegiate career. A season ago, Cameron placed 15th in the 60 a year ago. The sophomore earned Second Team status in indoor and a pair of Second Team All-American selections at the outdoor championships. Her third-place finish is her best in an NCAA final in her collegiate career. The Stephenville, Tex., native is the first WAC women’s 60-meter dash indoor medalist since 2000. Cameron is also the first WAC woman to place top three at the NCAA Indoor Championships since Chelsea Hayes in 2013.
On the first day of the competition, the Texans brought home their first indoor individual National Champion. Lokesh Sathyanathan won the men’s long jump with a best leap of 8.21 meters. He set the new Indian National record as well as broke his own school record. He earned his second First Team All-American honor as a Texan joining his accomplishment at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Prestina Ochonogor also earned First Team All-American status, her third in her collegiate career. The sophomore posted her best performance of her career at an NCAA Championship, placing in fifth overall with a 6.44-meter leap.
