The Stephenville FAITH Knights (5-2, 1-1) are fired up for this week’s matchup against the BVCHEA HomeSchool (Bryan) Mustangs (4-3, 1-1) following a hard-fought loss last week.

The Mustangs are sitting in second place in the East Division of the TAIAO standings behind Westlake Academy (6-1, 3-0) and are coming off a win over Burkeville, 65-18, last week. They will give the Knights a good game to prepare for division foes like NYOS Charter School (5-2, 4-0) who sit at the top of the West Division where the Knights are ranked fifth.

The Knights are coming into the game with a shorter week, having played against the Lubbock Titans (2-5, 1-0) on Saturday of last week. While FAITH kept it closer than the score would imply, the Titans came out ahead, 63-36.

FAITH QB junior Travis Robertson completed 9 of 12 for 187 yards, 3 touchdowns and a fumble against the Titans, while sophomores Austin Aardal and Ezra Swindell each completed a pass as well. Swindell’s pass was completed for a Knight TD.

Receiving, Aardal caught 4 balls for 104 yards and two touchdowns, senior Elijah Swindell had 4 catches for 65 yards and Ezra Swindell had 2 catches for 30 yards.

On the ground, the Knights’ Robertson had 16 carries for 174 yards and 2 TDs and Elijah Swindell had 4 carries for 18 yards.

Defensively, FAITH was lead by seniors Matthew Gardner, Elijah Swindell and junior Preston Hyde. Gardner had 11 solo tackles, 2 assists and an interception. Hyde had 2 solo tackles, 5 assists, all for loss of yards and five sacks, while Swindell had 14 total tackles.

The Knights look to change their fate with a big win over the Mustangs on Friday night, October 14, in Morgan Mill. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. but come early because parking fills up quick.
