Ralph Bennett Claitor, 82, passed away on September 5, 2025, in Stephenville, Texas. He was born on August 22, 1943, in Dublin, Texas, to Gordon Bennett Claitor and Stella Naomi (Harbin) Claitor. His mother passed away when he was just 14 years old. His older sister, Mildred, took on the responsibilities of his mom and took care of Ralph. When she moved to New Mexico, she took Ralph with her. (Since Ralph lived with Mildred, John’s mother, Ralph was like a second father to his nephew, John.) Ralph attended Albuquerque High School and then graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in computer science. Later, Ralph moved to Stephenville, where he worked as a computer programmer for Tarleton State University for 25 years.
Ralph is survived by his nieces and nephews, John Beverly and his wife, Nancy, of Dublin, Texas, Randy Claitor and wife, Angela, of Hallsville, Texas, Trina (Claitor) Workman and husband, Brad, of St. George, Utah, Debbie Claitor of Provo, Utah, Kenneth Tidwell and wife, Vickie, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Susan (Tidwell) Smith and husband, Dave, of Cypress, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordan Bennett Claitor and Stella Naomi (Harbin) Claitor; his siblings, Mildred Evelyn (Claitor) Beverly, Gordon Bennett (G. B.) Claitor, Jr., and Alta Florine (Claitor) Tidwell; and niece Stella Beverly.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Stephenville Funeral Home in Stephenville, Texas with Ronnie Gaines officiating. Interment will follow at Lower Greens Creek Cemetery.
