Laura Dell (Laurence) Belcher of Hico, Texas, passed away Saturday, November 1st, 2025.
A private family burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22nd at Millerville Cemetery in Erath County, officiated by Murl Nelms of Byers, Texas. Visitation for friends will be that afternoon from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Belcher residence at 1765 County Road 239, Hico, TX 76457.
Laura was born on October 25, 1942, in Bay City, Texas, to Ira and Audrey Laurence. She grew up in Bay City and graduated from Bay City High School. During her childhood years, she spent a lot of time at the family ranch developing a love for horses and cattle. As a young woman, she competed as a barrel racer. She attended Sam Houston University in Huntsville.
She met her husband, Darell, in Bandera, and they were married in 1961 in Bay City. Two sons were born to them: Gregg and Scott.
Laura enjoyed a variety of careers over the years. She managed a cotton gin in Harlingen, worked as a banker in Stephenville and kept books for G C Contracting until the time of her death. She was a member of the Graham Street Church of Christ in Stephenville and spent much of her time volunteering at the Basic Needs Ministry at Graham Street. She enjoyed cooking and organizing. She and Darell had four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. They enjoyed 64 years together.
She is survived by her husband Darell, Brother Bruce Freemon and wife Susan and niece Laura of Early, sons Gregg and wife Lori of Hico, and Scott Belcher of Aransas Pass, grandchildren, Megan Ingram of Stephenville, Brice Stafford and wife Jenna of Grandview, Waylon Belcher of Hamilton, Haleigh Pearl and husband Hunter of San Antonio as well as four great-grandchildren: Drae Ingram, Morghan Ingram, Cason Belcher and Steely Stafford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the Basic Needs Ministry at Graham Street Church of Christ, P.O. Box 6, Stephenville, Texas 76401, or Millerville Cemetery, 1765 County Road 239, Hico, TX 76457.
Service Information
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, at the Belcher Residence, located at 1765 County Road 239 in Hico. The family will have a private burial service that morning in the Millerville Cemetery in Erath County.
