STEPHENVILLE — Tarleton State women’s golfer Lou Deltombe was named the WAC Women’s Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced on Thursday.
Deltombe notches her first WAC weekly honor of the spring and is the second-consecutive Texan to win the award, joining Louise Depadt who was last week’s recipient. Deltombe was named the October WAC Golfer of the Month during the fall slate. It marks the first weekly award for Deltombe in her three-year Texan career.
“Lou deserves this award as she was the most consistent player on our roster during this past event,” said head coach Isabel Jimenez. “It was a challenging course, and she did not stop fighting and trying during each of her rounds. It feels good having back-to-back golfers of the week for our team, it is definitely a boost of motivation.”
The La Chapelle Sur Edre, France, native, posted the highest finish among any golfer in the WAC this week, placing 16th at the Texas Golf Throwdown. It marked the second-straight event to begin the spring that she recorded a top 20 performance. She placed ninth at the Texas State Invitational in the season opener. So far in the fall and spring combined she has reached the top 20 five times, with one in the top 10.
She carded a two-over par, 74 to rank in the top 10 after the first round. The senior followed it up with a four-over par, 76 to end the first day in the top 20. She finished the third round with another two-over par, to card an eight-over, 224. Deltombe tied for the 12th most pars in the field with 36 and added five birdies. She ranked third in the field shooting a combined three-under par on par five holes.
Tarleton State Women’s Golf will be back in action in the beginning of March at the Puerto Rico Shootout on March 3-5. The event is hosted by Illinois State and will take place at the Palmas Del Mar in Humacao, Puerto Rico. It marks the first Texan trip outside of the US since fall 2016 when they competed in Rio Grande, PR.
