STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton State Tennis picked up its fourth straight weekly award from the Western Athletic Conference, with senior Ximena Morales being named to WAC Singles Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Morales is the third Texan to win WAC Singles Player of the Week honors this spring. The three-time WAC Doubles Player of the Week winner picked up her first career singles award.
The award increased the Texans’ midseason monthly/weekly award total at the Division I level to 57 under head coach Elianne Douglas-Miron.
Morales was instrumental in helping the Texans win their 17th straight home match with a 4-3 win over App State. Her win at No. 3 singles was the winner-take-all match, winning six of the final seven games to give the Texans the victory. She also won her eighth straight singles match on Sunday against UTSA.
With an 8-1 singles record, Morales has been one of Tarleton State’s best singles players in 2026. The senior from Guatemala City, Guatemala, has not lost a singles match since Jan. 15 and won 11 straight singles sets earlier this year. Her four bagels (6-0 sets) leads the Texans in 2026 and she is one of two players on the team to collect a double bagel this season (Jan. 22 vs. Weatherford College).
In addition to singles, Morales’ versatility has been displayed in doubles. She was penciled in at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles position in 2025, posting a 9-1 record mark in No. 2 doubles. Along with her three Doubles Player of the Week honors from the WAC, Morales was also named WAC Doubles Player of the Month in October 2023.
Morales was in the top 500 ITF junior rankings upon her arrival at Tarleton State. She was ranked as the third-best player in Guatemala among players 18 and under, winning the individual J5 Guatemala Tournament. She was also part of team championships at the J5 Cancun, J5 Santa Tecla, J4 Santo Domingo and J3 Cancun tournaments from 2020-22.
The Texans continue its road trip this weekend, traveling to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to take on Kansas City and Tulsa starting Saturday at 12 p.m.
