ERATH COUNTY (January 27, 2015) — For many in the county, the deadline to pay property taxes is getting close. Erath County Tax Assessor-Collector Jennifer Carey said residents have until Friday to pay their annual property taxes before they become delinquent.
“We are accepting payments at the Stephenville office (located at 320 W. College Street) and at the Dublin location (219 S. Grafton Street),” Carey said Monday. “If you don’t want delinquent taxes, make sure they are taken care of by Friday, which is the last day our offices will be open before the February 1 deadline.”
Delinquency means a seven percent late fee will be added to the bill. Carey said the late fee will go up from there the longer the taxes go unpaid.
Payments mailed to the office must be postmarked by Jan. 31.
