The Jackets suffered through three throwing errors and only one of the Tigers’ runs was earned.
Starter Mason Castleberry gave up two hits over 2.2 innings and struck out two batters but had five walks. Caleb Smith was solid in relief as he went 3.1 innings while striking out three and throwing 37 of 49 pitches for strikes.
The Jackets outhit the Tiger 7-6 but the errors were costly. It didn’t help when the umpire missed an out at first, a runner interference at second and the knee to the head at third base that caused a dropped ball.
Gabe Moore had a two-run home run to lead the Stephenville offense while Trace Morrison was 3-3 at the plate. Anthony Wehnert rapped a two-run single in the top of the seventh inning but the Jackets rally fell a run short of tying the game.
The Jackets (16-5-1) travel to Godley Friday for a 7 PM contest against the Wildcats (8-8
