Griffin’s 28 sends Cardinals past Lipan

Tim Griffin racked up 28 points and Lingleville opened District 18-A boys play with a key road win over Lipan Friday night.

Griffin scored 10 in the second, 10 in the third and eight in the fourth after being held scoreless in the first. Colbe Stoker and Jarod Hagood each added 10 for the Cardinals, who won 55-46.

“We played pretty consistent throughout on offense and besides the first quarter we were good on defense,” said Lingleville head coach Kade Eckert, whose club also picked up five points from Brady Sult and two from Meine Huisman.

Lingleville led by as many as 12 late in the third quarter following a pair of 3-pointers by Griffin. He also hit two long balls in the fourth to help the Cards maintain at least a six-point lead throughout the final stanza.

Lipan defeated Lingleville’s girls 78-15. Both Lingleville teams host Gordon on Tuesday with games beginning at 6:30 and 8 p.m.
