Delores Stringer of Athens, TX passed away on June 26, 2015. She was born February 27, 1941 in Stephenville, TX to James Rayford Wooton and Mary Kathryn Sanders Wooton. Mrs. Stringer is preceded in death by her parents, and three of her brothers: Dennis, Frank and James Amos Wooton.

Mrs. Stringer is survived by her soulmate, Scott Williams, of Athens, TX and by her three children: son, Rick Stringer and wife Tanya of Granbury; daughter, D’Ann Davis of Granbury; daughter, Janette Johnson and husband Stacy of Alvarado, TX. Also surviving are many grandchildren, including Felisha Mann and husband Bobby, Natalie Stringer, Bradly Stringer, Trey Johnson, Amanda Stringer, Paige Davis, Blake Johnson; and great grandchildren, Emma and Elle Mann. Surviving siblings include two brothers, David Wooton and wife Jan of Dublin, TX; brother, Gary Wooton and wife Kay of Morgan Mill, TX; and by one sister, Bonnie Rucker and husband James of Bluff Dale, TX.

As a child, Delores and her family moved quite a bit, and she had fond memories of living in Morgan Mill, TX. For 26 years while married to former husband Jerry Stringer, they had three children that they raised in Hico and were members of First Baptist Church of Hico. Delores was a homemaker and babysat children in her home. When son Rick was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 6, she took a job at the Hico Elementary School so that she could be close to help take care of him. Delores worked for the Hico School District for 22 years, until 1995. Delores moved to Granbury, TX and worked at an optometrist office for 9 years and was a member of Granbury Baptist Church. Delores then moved to Athens, TX where she worked with optometrist Dr. Scott Williams as office manager, and held that position since 2005.

Service Information

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, at Harvest Hills Funeral Home, located at 118 Second Street in Hico. Chapel services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1 at Harvest Hills Funeral Home in Hico with burial following at the Morgan Mill Cemetery on US Highway 281.
