STEPHENVILLE (July 25, 2016) — Approximately 50 incoming freshmen took advantage of the opportunity at a head start to their Stephenville High School careers Monday, and head coach Greg Winder predicts a few more will turn out Tuesday morning.
It’s freshman football camp at SHS, allowing incoming ninth graders to spend this week getting acclimated to high school terminology, drills and coaches. The camp is from 8-10 a.m. each day through Thursday. Official preseason practices for all high school players begin next week across Texas.
One position coaching change was immediately noticeable at the camp, and Winder was quick to confirm it. In addition to the move of Brad Wisener from Henderson Junior High to SHS to coach outside linebackers, Nolan Vosberg, in his second year at SHS after leaving Hico, is coaching safeties, with Casey Hamilton making the transition to coaching cornerbacks.
