STEPHENVILLE (February 5, 2017) – Friday was a proud day for the Stephenville Fire Department as there were three firefighters promoted to officers, while continuing a long-standing tradition of “pushing in” its newest fire truck.

Stephenville Fire Chief Jimmy Chew presented and promoted the officers with the aid of their wives in a ceremony held in Fire Station One (the old station). David Mulloy served with the Dublin Fire Department prior to coming to work in Stephenville in 2001 and is now the department’s newest Battalion Chief. Cody Wells, a 16-year veteran of the Stephenville Fire Department, was promoted to Captain. And Scott Brinkley (not pictured due to illness) was tabbed as a new Lieutenant.

Following the pinning of their new badges all those in attendance took part in pushing the newest fire truck into its bay.

“In keeping with tradition and helping carry it on we generally have one of our newest firefighters back the truck in,” Assistant Chief Chuck Elliott explained. “That lets the younger members take part and know what to do the next time we have a ceremony.”

The role of driver landed on Trey Culberson’s shoulders as he carefully maneuvered the truck into the station with the manpower of about 30 people.
