Julia Margaret “Maggie” Burton

Margaret “Maggie” Burton, 81, of Stephenville, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018 in Stephenville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Stephenville Funeral Home with Mike Hannah officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger. The family will host a visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 23, at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Margaret was born February 14, 1937 in Ranger to the late W. W. Needham and Loyce Virginia Andrew Needham. She was a proud flight attendant for United Airlines in the early days of aviation. She later received both a Bachelor and Master of Education from Tarleton State University and then worked as a teacher at Morgan Mill ISD for 29 years. Maggie lived for many years in both Ranger and Santa Barbara, California and had lived in Stephenville for 41 years. She was a member at First Baptist Church in Stephenville. Maggie joined the Stephenville Hospital Auxiliary in October 2010, actively serving until February of 2014. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for four years. She was very active at the Senior Citizen Center for 11 years, where she enjoyed line dancing and playing 42 and 84.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jill Renee Burton of Nashville, Tennessee; son, Robert Wells Burton and wife Frances of Hazlet, New Jersey; sister, Patsy Beth Needham of Haslet, Texas; niece, Diana Maston and husband Bruce of Haslet; nephew, Philip Blackmon and wife Tyra of Haslet; and many more loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Minnie Eloise Needham; and brother, Donald Wells Needham.
