ERATH COUNTY (October 26, 2018) – Early voting for the Nov. 6 general election began on Oct. 22 in Texas and ends on Nov. 2.

The Flash Today spoke with Gwinda Jones, the county clerk for Erath County, who gave information on the early voting numbers so far.

As of today, Friday, October 6, at 1 p.m., 3,613 people have early voted in Erath County.

Jones said these numbers are high for a gubernatorial (governor) election.

In the 2016 presidential election, the first day of early voting obtained 1,166 votes. This Monday, 940 people voted.

“The first two days we were extra heavy. It’s slowed down since then but it’s been a constant line,” Jones said.

Jones also said she expects higher than average numbers going forward to election day if the trend continues.

“You just don’t know if everybody came the first week or whatever but if it continues like it is, we’re going to have an extra-large election for gubernatorial. It’s running just under presidential so that’s good,” Jones said.

As for the Stephenville city charter amendment votes, 1,429 cast a ballot for the city election through yesterday at five.

“We will be voting Sunday afternoon here at the courthouse from noon to 4 p.m. for anybody that doesn’t have free time during the week,” Jones added.

Voting will continue Monday-Friday of next week. Voting will be open Monday and Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, voting will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dublin will be voting at the Dublin location as well in the Dublin annex.
